  • Most of us will probably will start with the baby in the same room.
  • Never sleep with baby on the same bed - tragic accidents can happen especially when you are tired and toss and turn around your bed.
  • Have a baby bot
  • have a cot that makes picking up and and returning babies to and fro the cots as easy as possible. it is not funny when it is 4 am in the morning and someone has got to pick baby up for breastfeeding.
  • the cries of a baby stimulates breast milk production so having the cot in the same room makes sense.
  • The head-end of the cot should be slightly raised - 10-15 degrees
  • the mattress should be just firm and not too soft.
  • there should not be balnkets or loose linen lying around in the cot.
  • The cot should be lined with a bedsheet thats stretched and tucked well under the mattress.
  • Pillows are not necessary for newborns
  • Swaddling may help in the initial few days to weeks.
  • There are enough tips out there on the net.
  • Painting - do this months before arrival of the baby or there will the chemical smell of paint. Some paints are more toxic than others though all are safe for human inhalation, you do not baby exposed so early in life.
  • ​Temperature - the baby should be familiarized the climate of your country as as quickly as possible, Air conditioning should be at a minimum, more of a purifier and dehumidifier. Best is baby to have natural temperatures.
