Headache

Headache is common in pregnancy affecting up to 30% of all pregnanct women.


The most common is tension headache. It involves the whole frontal area. Gentle massaging of the temples tends to be extremely soothing and relieving. It is harmless.


Cluster headaches and migraine is usually one-sided. This can be severe and even associated with limb weakness and loss of consciousness. Urgent medical attention is needed.


Hypertension which affects 10% of all pregnant women especially in the 3rd trimester can also cause headache. This is harmful. A quick blood pressure assessment will help exclude this condition.
