Miscarriage is very common. One in every three pregnancies miscarriage. The majority of pregnancies that miscarriage are genetically abnormal, hence nature's way of keeping only the normal ones.
There are other causes that may cause repeated miscarriages.

65% of all miscarriages are genetically abnormal. This abnormal pregnancies happen during fertilization and is spontaneous without hereditary signs.
Other causes exists: poorly controlled medical conditions, cervical incompetence, certain vaginal infections, abnormal uterus etc

Each pregnancy requires careful documentation of its progress. Each miscarriage requires careful staging of the point in pregnancy that it occurs. The cause is different in each of the following  miscarriages:
- if an early pregnancy with no fetus
- early with fetus established after 10 weeks
- repeated miscarriages
- miscarriage after the 13th week
​- a short cervix such as the image provided
etc

An accurate assessment may help prevent a repeat.
