Short of Breath

The hormones of pregnancy cause pregnant women to breath deeper and faster. This may cause increased awareness of breathing that may be translated to shortness of breath. Typically the breathlessness is worse at rest and settles when focused on a certain task.

Conditions that should also be considered are as follows:

Athma
Pneumonia
Gastro-esophageal reflux disease
Pulmonary embolism
Anemia (common in pregnancy)
